A dog who is a master sculptor, working in the only material he fully controls. It should be crude. It isn't — Worsley plays it completely straight, and that's why it lands.

Bold shapes, and a use of perspective that makes small sculptures feel monumental.

The catch — a few grown-ups won't get past the premise. Children won't have that problem for a second.

Shortlisted for the Klaus Flugge Prize for debut illustrators. Winner announced 9 September.
